What are the costs for cafe's in Philipines ?

What are the costs for cafe's in Philipines to use the internet? Also what is the cost for a short tricycle ride to and from the Cafe? I want to help my girlfriend with the cost to chat online with me. We chat 2 - 3 hours about 4 times a week, and want to help her with these costs. What is an acceptable amount to send her per month to cover these costs?

feldz23: What are the costs for cafe's in Philipines to use the internet? it depends where she lives, because when i was there in manila year 2005 the cost was 35.00PH to 50.00PH per hour and i thought it is over 50.00PH now. If she lives in the province it is lease expensive 25.00PH to 30.00PH per hour.

feldz23: to help her with these costs. What is an acceptable amount to send her per month to cover these costs? 300.00bucks including fares(cab, tricycle or jeepny, snacks and including other expenses.

She lives in Gensan at 43.00 PH an hour. If we chat 4 times a week for 3 hours that comes out to about $12 a week for internet times 4 is $48 dollars a month. Then 16 round trip fares by tricycle ( $250 / 16 ) = $15.62 each ( 671.00 PH )? Wow $300 seems awfully high.

I would think that $50 to $75 would be plenty
I sent over $300 about 15000 PH, but that paid for all house expenses, electric, phone, water, DSL, personal items, plus my honey also saved some.
I agree with everything my wife said up until she said $300 bucks. LOL

1 usd per hour some places charge more. also factor in the cost to get there and back 1 usd each way. She may have one of her younger family get a taxi for her usually that will mean a tip. also when sending money rember that the service will charge you an ammount for the service. Also some of the net cafe like to pull a stunt and give a computer with out net cam or yahoo if your not spacific the entire time counting down on you "hour". its e-how (unfair) I know

In my opinion. I would not pay anything until I had went to the Philippines and met her in person first.

I was from Cebu City. Before I left the cafe' rate was Php 15.00/hr but because of competition some cafe's lowered down to 10.00/hr. I also had to ride a tricycle which costs Php 6.00 (4.5 miles).

My opinion here...

If you were sending the money for the first time, I'd send about $80 (about 3200php) and you should look at how she spends it and how long it lasts her.

Of course, when you send the money, you should also set specific guidelines for how the money can be used.

I also agree that you should NOT send money to someone you haven't met in person.
