Hey guys, im new here. Im a bit confused. When i attended seminar at CFO i met a lady who is also appling for CR1 visa like me. She showed me her marriage certificate aunthenticated by Malacanang. I didnt have the chance to ask her why she had to do it. She havent had her visa yet. Can anyone tell me is it REALLY required. How will i know if i have to do the Malacanang authentication or not? Im waiting for my interview date and i want to have everything prepared before i will face the CO. Help please....

wewe,
From what I understand, US Embassy doesn't require the DFA and Malacañang authentication of documents. I had to do it because the UAE Embassy required it for my Dubai Police certificate. It's the police certificate which is in fact needed for the US embassy, since I stayed in the UAE for 5 years. The other lady must need it for another country, perhaps Japan, etc. If I'm not mistaken, Japan requires all authenticated documents from DFA and Malacañang. If so you said that the lady's MC is indeed for the US Embassy, she made an unnecesssary trip. Perhaps others can clarify the info... |

Malacañang Authenticated
hi! Wewe,
If im not mistaken, i think the lady you met with her MC authenticated by Malacañang might have an anotation (lets say it was late registered) in her paper. Like in German embassy, in case the birth/marriage/death certificate are late registered, the document has to be authenticated by Malacañang and the DFA as well. So if you're documents are free from any corrections (through R.A 9048 or Court Order) then i guess your paper will might just do as well. |
