Marriage Broker?

Hi Everyone

I may be jumping the gun a little... but I wanted to bring the petition forms with me to PI, Atel can help me fill them out.

Does anyone know if Cherry Blossoms is a marriage broker? We met on there, but only talked a few times on it. I am guessing no, but I want everything to be correct on the forms. I'm leaving next Wednesday . Any advice?

Oh.. FYI, anyone who lives in the NW US and is planning on flying to PI, check out Hawaiin Air! Their plane ticket was over $500 cheaper than any other carrier.

Thanks!

Is Cherry Blossoms a marriage broker?

Well that depends on who you ask ... according to Cherry Blossoms ... they are not a marriage broker ...

However ... according to the USCIS ... Cherry Blossoms IS a marriage broker ...

I live in the greater Seattle area ... Thanks for the Hawaiian Air info!!!

Since it is illegal to broker a marriage in the Philippines, I would think that you would not refer to them as such on any forms.

Why not just say that you first contacted each other "online," just like many of the rest of us did?

Thanks!

I didn't know if I had to be specific or not? They don't ask specific questions like that for the K-1 interview?

Thanks for all the replies!

Yeah, the people at the US Embassy will ask you how you met. But, like George said, USCIS considers Cherry Blossoms to be a marriage broker anyway, so, saying that to the interviewer at the US Embassy will not be much of a surprise. And, George correct me if I am wrong, but it won't make that much difference as long as the other things that make your relationship are OK.

It will have no bearing on your petition being approved or not ... but you will need to have an FBI background check ... a nice little "extra" the IMBRA law added to the process ...

Do not lie or try to be misleading about Cherry Blossoms ... doing that could bite you in the butt ...

Just as a note, IMBRA added NO NEW background checks, it only made it so the results of the current ones are to be disclosed to the beneficiaries. Although in the recent (relatively) GAO report it appears that not all consulates/embassies are fully in compliance with that.

And here it is something like 3 years later and the pamphlet is still 'in process'.
