Double Nationality

France considèrs the double nationality. Its allowable to have double nationality (ex:French and Filipino) as long as what crime you do to France, Phillippines will not protect you and vice versa.)

I read it in their website, only minor children. No father, mother, sister, brother , cousins can be petitioned.

hello, i just read the French regulations about acquiring of French citizenship for foreign spouses. As far as i understand, it only requires a year of "being married" and not 2 years before I can apply for the citizenship. Please correct me if Im wrong and can u supply links if you have some about this matter. Merci beaucoup!

It was 2 years and it's just changing to 4 years. Same for "regroupement familial", it will be possible after 2 years only and not 1 year as before.

As Francesca have already started the process, she's with the preceeding delays... good for her.

This is the price if the medical exam is done in France via OMI, I don't know what is the price if done in Manila (I don't know someone who pass through this yet).

Thanks! I will also ask my husband to check the current laws at the mairie before I leave the United States.

With my 1 year resident card, can I travel to the Philippines and return to France without any problem? My husband and I have plans of visiting Manila once I get my papers done.

Thanks again...

Yes you can travel and must go back in France before it expire. Remember to request it's renewal in advance to avoid difficulties.

For the visa request, just a flight itinary is sufficient. But after they call you to confirm that your visa is granted (never before!), you can buy your ticket and show it at the Embassy when coming to get your visa as they will adjust the visa start date to your real travelling date.

If I am not wrong, you must also be able to speak and write the French language [and perhaps have sufficient knowledge about french society?] on a certain level before being able to apply for French naturalization.

Yes exactly. You must also reside in France (as you will submit your request to a French court) and permanently resided in France for 1 year minimum since you're married. This request can't be done if you're residing abroad.
