HI All,
My cousin from Manila almost 40yo, married, with 2 young kids is I heard interested to migrate to Australia by applying a Student Visa. I am totally not aware of the procedure on how to accomplish such kind of visa. She used to work in Philipps Electronics in Makati as Sales Supv for 15 yrs and just recently, decided to leave the company to use her money to process her student visa application to australia. I believe that her husband's bro and sis are now in australia for couple of years. Now, I would like to know what are the requirements and procedures in applying a student visa in her category...meaning, she graduated a degree in Office Admin but I heard that she will study a culinary (HRM) course in Australia. She said that it would be easier for her to come to Australia because her bro-in-law and sis-in-law are living to that country. It doesn't make sense to me Appreciate any inputs.... Shiela |

They can check themeselves cuz it is too complicated. I cannot tell you how much because it depends on what course and university she is going. Even if her BIL or SIL lives here it not that easy. Does the sister want to sponsor them? That would be a lot of money for the bond.. 1. They have to pay the course or the university 2. They have to show them they have enough money to take care of themselves because a student only aloud to work upto 20 hours a week during term. Some dont let work at all.. Lucky if they allow her. (but she will get payed mostly here 15$ an hour which i think not enough for the whole family).. Sometimes they let you bring the whole family, sometimes not, depends on what course you are going to study. Please read the link below. And it depends on what state they going to migrate. Public school costs 10,000$ a year, more or less. to find a course check http://cricos.dest.gov.au/ to find out how to apply for the visa check http://www.immi.gov.au/students/index.htm |

Thanks a lot for the info. I, personally was very curious about this type of visa application, because the way she talks all the time is like she is very assured that she would be able to avail the visa I dont think her BIL nor her SIL can afford to sponsor her though, i guess, it would be on her own money thats basically why she left the company she was working with for many years. Again, thanks a lot! Shiela |

I would believe that
1) If she can show she has the financial capacity for living expenses and course fee's and 2) immigration do not think she is a flight risk ... 3) and she can pass the required english exam she could get a student visa. Having relatives here is useful if they can provide accommodation ... ie maybe they have spare room in house .. so accommodation costs could be lowered. |
