AR - The review that never ends?
My friend and his fiancée have been in AR for several months now. They have turned in what they requested at her interview, but still no visa.
A good sign is they kept her passport, so I think she will get her visa in time. She had her birth certificate corrected (name changed, she never used the name on the BC and changed it to the name her family has always called her) and got a presumption of death for her spouse in her first marriage a few months before the interview, could all the document changes cause the delay? |

There is a good chance that the 'presumptive death' is what is causing the delay. From what I understand, the embassy is aware that there is a lot of fraud involved with 'presumptive death' filings and as such it is often a 'red flag' causing the case to almost automatically be forwarded to the fraud prevention unit. For this reason it is often a better idea to pursue a full annullment rather than 'presumptive death'. However, this does not mean that things won't move forward; only that there will likely be some delay. |
