yea it says if you have 3 convictions.....not saying that 1 is good but from what the paper says its only if you have been convicted of 3 drug related charges that you will have to explain yourself about.

As for a camera, buy a throw away and send it snail mail. The cost of a throw away camera and postage is minimal (so you won't be out much) compared to a $125 camera and FedEx.
greg: He just sent her $200 for a camera, sooo why should he send her one? Hey Acemagoo!!! Don't send her a dime more. If she want to get a picture taken for you, she can use a few dollars from the $200. Don't continue to be a Sucker!!

She is up to no good. And you've been duped. May this be a lesson learned for you.

You'll get a beating alright..
200usd on just a few days of chatting? Man..this girl is good.
And 36 years old!A good woman would have a career at that age and will have the pride not to accept money from a complete stranger.
Run as fast as you can..It's a red flag with a marching band behind it.

Man, looks like you've been had. If the goal was to take a picture, disposable cameras abound in the Philippines for more or less P500. (Divide that by 53 and you get the average dollar equivalent.) Quality-wise, I don't think they're that bad. Even used one when we went diving. But if she really wanted a good photo of hers taken, why not go to a studio and shell out maybe P200?

And she's from Cebu?

Looks like she will be up for a promotion soon after this one. She will have scammers working under her supervision now.

Ace:

It's not: "don't send more money"........... it's "don't talk again with that woman, or any others like her".

There are women who work on the internet to separate kano men from their money. They know more about your kind than you know about yourself. They are trained in how to separate gullible men from their dollars. It is their job, they are good at it.

Read this article. It is REALITY.

Re: Red flag or paranoid?

You've pretty much got your responses, but I want to address a few specifics.

This in itself is not that unusual, many sites like Yahoo will only accept a U.S. zip and so people from other countries will just put in something random. Some here on this site met this way.

That is a red flag. The same as if a girl here were to ask you for a ring after you chatted only a couple of days. K1 is FIANCE, that means marriage.

There are also television shows in the PI about the immigration process.

Assuming, of course that she is not just sitting there while somebody else types (has been known to happen).

At first she said she just got the money and hurried back. She said the camera she was going to buy seemed to not work right so she didn’t get it. She said she looked at other digital cameras at a shop and they were expensive. She said she wanted to get her cell phone from the pawn shop (I didn’t know they had any value to be able to pawn them), so I could call her. But she said it was up to me because it was my money. I said I didn’t care (I really didn’t) what I care about is she said she had rushed back as soon as she got the money and it seemed to be a lie.
You just said that she said she went to get the camera but did not think it was a good camera and so she looked at other cameras at a shop. It would appear that she wanted to come back with the camera to show you it on the web cam (common enough, and reasonable. I always thought it sweet when Cleo would show me the things I sent her on webcam).

Of course I am not going to do that; if she really wants me to have a better picture of her can’t she find a place to get it taken that won’t cost a lot?
She can probably have a better picture taken right there at the cybercafe, many also do digital photo services.

If the interviewer asks wouldn’t I be obliged to tell the truth since it is probably out there somewhere anyways?
You are mixing two seperate issues here. 1) If the person being interviewed (the Filipina) admints to illegal drug use it is an automatic denial, and the other is the IMBRA requirements which is only disclosure of information, and is pretty much volunatary.

(Oddly enough, if the American admits drug use it probably won't hurt his chances, but if the Filipino does it is an automatic denial. That's America for ya!)

Oh, finally:

RULE #1: Never send money to somebody that you have never met!
