The lap burping works best for us. Recently, Little Abbey has taken to burping while she is still on the breast. She will pause for a second, let out a loud belch and then go back to nursing. Sometimes she has trouble staying latched on afterwards because mom and I are laughing too hard
I recommend buying some infant gas drops at your local grocery or drugstore. They seem to be everywhere here and they work well when the baby has gas and usually kick in after just a few seconds though I think the quickness is more attributed to the flavoring of the medicine which Little Abbey seems to like. Our doctor said that we could give it to her every feeding but we only give it to her when she has gas. We went for a couple weeks after the July 4th without giving her any though we have given her some this past week.
