If he can afford that without a job maybe he doesn't need a job...

I just got back from a 2 month visit to Cebu to get married. I left home on the 9th of March. We got married on the 8th of April and I spent another month there with my bride returning on the 8th of May. This doesn't mean to say I have no job just that I'm self employed and believe more in enjoying life than worrying over the loss of a few weeks income. Not everybody fits the corporate bill.
The no work = no fiancee visa thing does not apply to all nationals, it does to mainly the US, UK, Aus. In my case I don't have to prove I have a job, or an income or anything else, just that I exist, i have a citizenship, a man, and now a married one. Besides, we don't have 'fiancee visas' in Europe so if 'he's' European (and non-British - a special case) he'd have to marry you there and then take you 'home' on a Shengen visa, if it gets that far.
Best of luck anyway, he sounds interested and sincere whoever he is, keep an open mind and trust your instinct.
